EnerWorks’s Collector Earns Highest ecoENERGY Program Rating

Dorchester, ON – NRCan’s ecoACTION program provides end users with performance ratings for qualifying solar collectors to aid understanding and comparisons. A recent update to the listing at http://www.ecoaction.gc.ca/ shows EnerWorks’s commercial collector at a 1.07 performance factor, the highest ecoENERGY Program Rating.

“Our Commercial collector now has the highest rating of all flat plate collectors approved for NRCan's ecoENERGY program,” says Florin Plavosin, EnerWorks’s Director of Applications Engineering. “This is in line with SRCC OG-100 ratings and it corrects a misunderstanding which had previously led to having both our collector models under-rated. We'd like to thank NRCan's ecoENERGY team of professionals for the prompt correction once this issue was brought to their attention."

 Collectors that qualify for ecoENERGY’s Renewable Heat program must meet Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard F378 or equivalent. They are tested for safety, durability and to determine efficiency and energy output under varying operating conditions. A higher rating indicates increased performance and efficiency capabilities which translate into savings for the end user.

 “To put the magnitude of a higher rating into context,” explains Plavosin, “the .07 difference between ours and the next highest rated collector indicates that 7% more energy is generated by each m2 of the EnerWorks’s collector. Over the long lifetime of the system, that translates into significant energy savings.”
